The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office runs the jail under Sheriff Dawanna S. Witt. It books about 40,000 people each year from Minneapolis, Brooklyn Park, and all the other cities in Hennepin County. The jail has two downtown Minneapolis locations near the Government Plaza light rail station. Be aware of phone scams targeting families of people in custody.
