Beltrami County Adult Corrections Center

Beltrami County calls its jail the Adult Corrections Center. The current facility sits at 626 Minnesota Avenue NW in Bemidji and has 108 beds. It was originally built in 1982, with the correctional facility added in 1989. The building has been modified and expanded several times over the decades. According to state data, the facility has had the highest rate of inmate-on-staff assaults in Minnesota, which was a big factor in the decision to build a new jail.

A new $80 million jail is under construction. It broke ground in September 2024 at 815 Pioneer St. SE in Bemidji. The new facility will have 243 beds, more than double the current capacity. Completion is expected in early-to-mid 2027. The new jail will include space for mental health services, substance abuse treatment, vocational training, and reintegration programs. Once it opens, the Beltrami County jail roster will reflect inmates housed at the new location.
